Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine and is a fun way to see what books other bloggers just can't wait to get their hands on!

March 14th, 2017

Beauty knows the Beast’s forest in her bones—and in her blood. Though she grew up with the city’s highest aristocrats, far from her father’s old lodge, she knows that the forest holds secrets and that her father is the only hunter who’s ever come close to discovering them.

So when her father loses his fortune and moves Yeva and her sisters back to the outskirts of town, Yeva is secretly relieved. Out in the wilderness, there’s no pressure to make idle chatter with vapid baronessas…or to submit to marrying a wealthy gentleman. But Yeva’s father’s misfortune may have cost him his mind, and when he goes missing in the woods, Yeva sets her sights on one prey: the creature he’d been obsessively tracking just before his disappearance.

Deaf to her sisters’ protests, Yeva hunts this strange Beast back into his own territory—a cursed valley, a ruined castle, and a world of creatures that Yeva’s only heard about in fairy tales. A world that can bring her ruin or salvation. Who will survive: the Beauty, or the Beast?

I get a craving for a fantasy and/or historical for like...a hot minute every few months, but I'm strangely looking forward to this one!

Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Books for Your Book Slump Friend

Hey, everyone!

It's Top Ten Tuesday by The Broke and The Bookish! This week's topic is Holiday Gift Guides. I've chosen to do a gift guide of 10 books for your friend that's in a book slump, though you could of course use it for yourself. ;)

Books that get me out of slumps tend to be reads that really suck you in within the first chapter. If you're slumping, the last thing you want to do is push through a book that has a slow beginning. I've selected several books of various genres, so let's jump right in!

10.

Looking for something funny, dirty, and set mostly in Paris? Dive in to this. Trust me, you'll thank me for it when you meet Ansel. ;)

9.

Looking for something dark, twisted, and with a fresh twist on paranormal? Check out this new indie book. Be prepared for a breakneck ride!

8.

Looking for a fun, sexy romantic comedy? Look no further than this smutty read that pokes fun at smut. ;)

7.

Looking for something quick, flirty, and that will satisfy your inner foodie? Try Nuts. Plus, that cover!

6.

Looking for heart, humor and heat? This is the book for you. Talk about a swoony hero!

5.

Looking for something in the fantasy genre with a touch of historical, but not too much of either? You can't go wrong with this addictive read.

4.

Looking to fuel your inner hussy? Try this smoking hot BDSM read. ;)

3.

Looking for an anti-hero and a spitfire heroine? Honor is unputdownable and doesn't fall into the many tropes that are plaguing most romance lately.

2.

Looking for a modern day prince? This one is funny, sexy and swoony with the perfect amount of angst.

1.

And this one? Well, everyone should read it.

Mini Reviews Monday

An all new second chance love story by the New York Times Bestselling author of the Driven series.

It all started with the invitation. To my ex-fiance’s newwedding.

I should have ignored it.Thrown it away. Set it afire. But I didn’t.I replied.

With a plus one.

And then my assistant accidentally mailed it.

Enter Hayes Whitley. Mega-movie star. The man who has captured the hearts of millions. But I gave him mine years ago. He was my first love. He was my everything. Right until he up and left to chase his dreams without so much as a simple goodbye.

When he showed up out of the blue ten years later, I should have known to steer clear. I should have rejected his offer to take me to my ex’s wedding. I should have never let him kiss me.

But I didn’t.

And now we’re left wondering if the pieces of the life we once shared still fit together somehow. First loves are hard to forget. The question is, do we want to forget? Or do we risk the chance and see what happens next?

3 stars!
A quick and easy read, but wasn't anything special. An annoying and dramatic heroine combined with an okay but doormat-like hero.

He's my soulmate. There's only one love that matters more than your first love: your last love. How damn lucky am I that both of mine are the same person?

“Knock knock!”
“Um… Who’s there?”

Yeah. That was me, on my last date. Before you feel sorry for me
you should know that I was the one telling the jokes. Jokes as in
plural, because I didn’t stop with just one. Of course not.

Hi, I’m Chloe Scott. The most awkward single girl in the city.
But I’m going to get it together. I am.

I’m going to learn how to date like a grown up.
I’m going to have an orgasm not given to myself.
I’m going to fall in love and live happily ever after.

Right after I get out of this interrogation room.

4 stars!
I didn't really get into this one until about 35%, but after the struggle with connecting with the heroine, I really enjoyed it! It was funny, super quick and easy, and the sex was hot. ;) Low drama, sexy read!

This girl is a fucking whirlwind to my common sense. She makes me think about forever with her when I haven't even nailed her down to the next date.

It started off as a battle of wits. Me: the ordinary girl with a big mouth against Him: the sexy bastard with a big...ego.

I thought I’d hit the jackpot when I was upgraded to first class on my flight to London.

That is until HE sat next to me. Gabriel Scott: handsome as sin, cold as ice. Nothing and no one gets to him. Ever. He’s a legend in his own right, the manager of the biggest rock band in the world, and an arrogant ass who looks down his nose at me.

I thought I’d give him hell for one, long flight. I didn’t expect to like him. I didn’t expect to want him. But the biggest surprise? He wants me too. Only in a way I didn’t see coming.

If I accept his proposal, I leave myself open to falling for the one man I can’t manage. But I’m tempted to say yes. Because the real man beneath those perfect suits and that cool façade just might be the best thing that’s ever happened to me. And I just might be the only one who can melt the ice around his heart.

Let the battle begin…

5 stars!
This book...this book! I loved it, absolutely loved it. The opposites attract romance was spot on, the banter between the entire cast was amazing, the pacing was flawless, and I was so happy while reading it. I was dying to get back to it every time I was forced to put it down!
Best of 2016.

"First and most importantly, I love you. I have never said that to a woman, and I will never say that to any other but you. I've lived long enough to know that you are completely it for me. This is a done deal - signed, notarized, what have you.
I will say the wrong words from time to time. And I will cock things up. That's a given, unfortunately. But there will never, ever be a time when I do not love you or want you in my life."

The Sunday Post/It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

Hey, ladies!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a fun weekly meme hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date where we share what we've read and reviewed over the past week and what we plan to read next.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday! Mine was surprisingly pleasant, since the usual extended family gathering was called off, and that was something to be thankful for. ;) It was just the immediate family and the dogs, and was 100 times better.

Not the best step week. I've been strangely exhausted lately, and have been falling asleep before my usual nighttime dog walk more often than not. Hoping to quit that!

January 24th, 2017

Grim Reaper Charley Davidson is back in the eleventh installment of Darynda Jones’ New York Times bestselling paranormal series.

A typical day in the life of Charley Davidson involves cheating husbands, missing people, errant wives, philandering business owners, and oh yeah...demons, hell hounds, evil gods, and dead people. Lots and lots of dead people. As a part time Private Investigator and full-time Grim Reaper, Charley has to balance the good, the bad, the undead, and those who want her dead. In this eleventh installment, Charley is learning to make peace with the fact that she is a goddess with all kinds of power and that her own daughter has been born to save the world from total destruction. But the forces of hell are determined to see Charley banished forever to the darkest corners of another dimension. With the son of Satan himself as her husband and world-rocking lover, maybe Charley can find a way to have her happily ever after after all.

*Bounces in seat* I'm so ready for this! It's not that far off anymore, either!

Top Ten Tuesday: Thanksgiving Edition

Hey, ladies!

It's Top Ten Tuesday by The Broke and The Bookish! Since Thursday marks Thanksgiving for us U.S. residents, this week's topic is all about being thankful. Let's jump right in!

I am thankful for.....

10. My family

My immediate family and one aunt are fantastic, amazing people that I adore. I'm truly blessed with wonderful parents and 6 siblings (yes, 6! I'm the oldest of 7!) that are usually great too. ;) I'm lucky enough to have a good friendship with both my parents, and my youngest sister is my pride and joy.

9. My pets (the rest of the family!)

I four pets (3 dogs/1 cat) that are amazing. I lost my youngest dog at the end of October, and it was a heartbreaking experience. However, the newest addition is doing wonders to heal that pain!

This is Nola, my 6 year old miniature dachshund. She's my heart and soul!

This is Pike, an almost three year old mini Aussie. He's an asshole.
This is Lachlan, a 9 week old rescued Beagle. She's the baby and newest addition.

This is Salem, a 7 month old mutt kitty. She thinks she's a dog, and has been with me since she was a 2.5 week old bottle baby rescue.

8. Exercise

Walking, yoga, swimming, light free weights, throwing around a ball, ect. I love all of it, and how it clears and calms my mind.

7. Food and health

I love to eat. ;) Thankfully I'm one of those people that genuinely enjoys healthy eating!
And I'm thankful for my good health, and that of my family's (two and four legged)!

6. Sunsets

Not bad for an iPhone shot!

5. Cooler weather

65 degrees is much nicer than 110. Just sayin'.

4. Flowers

3. Music

2. Sleep

1. Books, of course!

eBooks, physical books, audiobooks. Romance, mystery, fantasy, humor. Long, short, funny, sad, crazy, dirty, satisfying. I'm thankful for them all!

This week felt oddly busy, even though it wasn't too bad at all. It was hot earlier this week, but yesterday it dropped like crazy and didn't get above 70! It's suppose to stay cooler now, which I'm looking forward too.
