The Sunday Post/It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

Hey, all!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a fun weekly meme hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date where we share what we've read and reviewed over the past week and what we plan to read next.

It finally feels like winter here, at least for the time being! Yesterday and today hovered around 40 degrees (30 with windchill), with the nights hovering around 28 (upper teens with windchill!). It's brutally cold for Florida, but it's not bad with the right clothes on, and a warm fire and good book to come inside to. ;)
It'll be back into the mid-70s in a few days; Florida winters are so hard to adjust to, since you'll be sweating in shorts and a tank one day and shivering in fleece leggings and a coat the next.

Aside from that, a busier week with work, but nothing too bad. I've had a bit of a sore throat/achy thing going on the past few days, so hopefully that clears up soon. That's pretty much it!

Read This Week

5 stars!
Amazing, absolutely amazing. And what a great way to kick off 2017!
3.5 stars!
Quick, funny, sexy, with a  decent narrator.
Partial audiobook
4.5 stars!
This was such a well done new adult!
3.75-4 stars??
I dunno, I'm really conflicted here. It kept me absolutely riveted and I read it in a day. On the other hand, it didn't quite live up to Marriage Games and the ending was a bit rushed...or perhaps the middle was drawn out. Very torn.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Books Set in Big Cities

Hey, everyone!

It's Top Ten Tuesday by The Broke and The Bookish! This week's topic is 10 books in X setting (so it could be England, boarding school, NYC, ect), and I'm choosing books set in larger cities, because I couldn't decide on anything else. ;p The Goodreads setting/location part is so handy.

In no order.....

10. San Fransisco

This was such a hilarious read, and made me fall for Alice Clayton's writing.

9. New York City

Now that...that's how you write a bad boy. Damn.

8. Chicago

Gah, I just love this series!

7. Washington D.C.

I am such a fangirl for Jake. That man....!!!

6. London

I've never had any desire to go to London (I'm weird, I know), but this book made me put it on the list!

5. Los Angeles

This trilogy needs more attention! Funny, sexy, sweet, with a tiny pinch of angst.

4. Paris

Ansel. <3

3. Atlanta

Erhmagod the next book comes out next month!

2. San Fransisco/Edinburgh

So good. So good!

1. Dublin

I'm in a K.A. Tucker kinda mood!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books Set Outside The US

Hey, everyone!

It's Top Ten Tuesday by The Broke and The Bookish! This week's topic is books set outside the US. Let's jump right in!

10. England!

This was some twisty, twisty stuff right here, even if the final book kinda sucked.

9. France!

Oh, Ansel! *swoons*

8. Spain...and a bit of Canada!

This one handles some controversial topics quite well, and in an eye opening way.

7. Ireland!

This is one of those books that just makes me stupidly happy.

6. Italy!

If someone could pay for me to go to Italy, that'd be great.

5. Scotland!

Lots of KHalle on the list, since most of her books aren't set in the US.

4. Scotland...again!

I have a serious thing for Scottish men. It's that accent.

3. Mexico...for a bit!

Very entertaining series!

2. Ireland...again!

1. Ireland...yet again!

Because really, how can you not love Barrons?

....apparently I read a lot of Scotland and Ireland. I was hard pressed to find anything else!

I'm flying home from the Arizona conference today, and I am exhausted. A little TMI, but my period came early, so I'm flying with crippling cramps, nausea, other stomach...issues, and head and body aches. Fun. I really hate flying and airports!

The conference was...different. I'm grateful to have been sponsored to go, and it was insightful in some ways. However, what I've mostly gotten out of it was:

  1. My feet hurt and I am tired
  2. I have the attention span of a goldfish
  3. I really...don't like being around people. At all.

Suggest Me Some Books!

Hey, everyone!

This week is going to be extremely busy; I'm flying out to Phoenix for a four day conference on Wednesday, and returning back home to Florida on Sunday. I won't be getting too much reading done this week, but I do need something to read on the flights there and back, including a long layover in Houston on the way home!

Random photo of what it's like trying to pack with a dog.

So...give me some suggestions! I have a few new books and a new audiobook ready to go, but I'd like a few more to choose from. Something contemporary, or maybe paranormal. Or perhaps urban fantasy, or a not-too-confusingly-convolted fantasy. First person, addictive, and preferably funny!

Go!

The Sunday Post/It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

Hey, ladies!

It's been a very busy week! I fly out for a conference in Phoenix on Wednesday morning, and it's been a little chaotic prepping for it. Suffice it to say that I am not a fan of shopping. At all. :p Aside from that, I have luggage, toiletries, business cards, dog supplies (my dachshund, Nola, is going with me), ect all ready to go. I'm getting my hair and nails done tomorrow or the next day, and have a couple last minute things to grab, but other than that I think I'm ready. Nervous as hell, but ready.

I'm going to be scheduling posts for this blog for the week, and hope to get around to commenting a bit, but we'll see.

I'm so sad we're winding down with Outlander season 2, but couldn't be more excited that it's been renewed for seasons 3 and 4!

A sadly slow reading week, especially compared to last week. Oh well!

4 stars!

This wasn't what I was expecting (more historical than fantasy), but I did enjoy it!

About 2.5-3 hours left in this audiobook. Light, easy read!
Only around 20% into this, and I'm a tad skeptical. The idea is intriguing enough to keep pushing through, though!

I haven't picked this one up in a few days, but I'll start up again soon!

A very minimal work week (just a long day yesterday) this week, which means tons of reading! I'm currently hooked on a YA paranormal romance series, and I forgot how much I love a good binge read.

I'm currently running around like a chicken with its head cut off, trying to prepare for a conference in Phoenix, AZ, in less than two weeks. It's a large pet blogging conference (yes, that's actually a large niche! My other blog, a dog blog, is my part time job), and I've been given a full ride to attend on behalf of a very big company. I'm so nervous and excited, especially since this little bit is attending with me:
The blog inspiration, and the reason I'm being sponsored.

Still hot. So, so, so hot. We're officially in the 90s, and the heat index topped 100 the other day. I've come to the sad conclusion that I am not going to be walking as much as I did in the cooler months, because it's just unbearable. As such, I've upped my yoga. I'm ready to move!

Despite the heat, I did make it to at least 10,000 steps each day, except for Thursday. Thursday was spent at the DMV....

Read This Week

5 stars!
I swear, it's impossible for this author to write something I won't adore. Another for the Best of 2016 shelf!
3 stars!
I finished this incredibly sexy serial series this week. Each book is around 100 pages, and goddamn, it's some good smut. Romantic suspense with a heavy dose of erotica, I'd call it.
3 stars!
3 stars!
4 stars!
3 stars!
This was interesting and engaging read, though it had several issues. I believe it was the author's first book, and it definitely reads like that. However, totally addictive regardless of those problems!
4 stars!
I cried. I cried that ugly, can't-breathe-through-your-nose kind of crying. And then immediately bought the third book and dove in.
2.5-3 stars!
I wanted to like this story, and the idea had potential. However, I couldn't get past the lack of real chemistry or feeling, the incredibly rushed ending, or the plethora of placeholder characters.
3 stars!
Addictive and interesting, but fell flat with an maybe-sort-of-possibly-I-don't-know-but-fuck-it's-annoying love triangle. It was settled at the end, but it sapped my enjoyment a bit.

Just started it, and I'm a little frustrated with the heroine.
After a slow start, this is picking up and is becoming quite enjoyable. The audiobook is quite good!
