The Sunday Post/It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

Hey, everyone!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a fun weekly meme hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date where we share what we've read and reviewed over the past week and what we plan to read next.

A little work and some wet and chilly weather, but overall a pretty good week. Some exciting work and life things are starting to get hammered out, which I'll be sharing as soon as everything is ready!

Fitness/Steps

Something I've struggled with on and off since committing to a solid exercise plan is being gentle and flexible with myself, and not pushing to finish my daily goal when I don't feel well. Cramps knocked me on my ass this week, but I made myself take it easy and actually felt better because of it!

Read This Week

5 stars!
This was really long (nearly 700 pages!), but I absolutely loved it, especially the kids that actually acted like kids!
DNF
Since I was more than halfway through it,  I'm still counting it as read. I just didn't care about either protagonist.

4 stars!
I'm really enjoying this author! Loved the hero and the farm setting, but wasn't huge on the heroine. Overall really enjoyable!

Currently Reading

I just freaking adore this series, and the narration is stellar. It's so great to read a book and get such pleasure out of it!
Almost 50% through this one, and it reads like bad fan fiction.

Not too much work this week, which was nice. I did feel very out of whack and irritable this week due to a dietary issue, but feeling back to normal now.

You'd think it was late spring for how hot it's been here! Upper 70s and mid 80s, and enough humidity to make you feel like a drowned rat. It's suppose to cool off into the low 60s and mid 50s this coming week; no wonder we've been under so many tornado warnings...

Lots of park time and yoga time, except for Thursday and Saturday, which were storm days!

3.5-4 stars!
Not quite sure what I thought of this one. It was good, but a few things just nagged at me. I will say that both Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward are much stronger as a duo than as standalone authors.
3.5 stars!
Quick, fun, easy audio with a good narrator.
5 stars!
I was very surprised by how much I loved this one!  It was a fantastically written slow burn romance with great chemistry.
4 stars!
Great storyline, AMAZING hero, adorable little boy and great set of side characters. However, the heroine really rubbed me the wrong way. You have issues, as you've mentioned literally every other page. We all have issues, and your lover has issues just as serious - if not more - as yours. You don't see him going on and on about them like you're doing.

I'm really trying to stay engaged with this one, but I'm finding myself not focusing on it whenever I try and read it.

I was sick all this week with a cold, ugh. I swear, I can't just get all the cold symptoms at once and be done with it. Nope, I have to have a sore throat for a few days, then a runny nose, fever and sneezing, then a cough. The cough is still lingering, but aside from being more tired than usual I'm feeling almost back to normal. I really, really hate being sick.

Other than that, it was a pleasant week with not too much work. It turns out there's a pretty nice little park about 10 minutes from home, with tons of hills and walking trails. Despite the cold, I've been going almost every evening with at least one of the dogs, and the fresh air has really helped.

I did read some great books this week! I haven't been able to comprehend anything but easy contemporary romances, but I found a couple absolute gems!

Read This Week

3 stars!
Gorgeous, gorgeous setting and decent writing. The heroine was a complete and utter spoiled, idiotic, childish bitch. It's been a while since I've read a heroine that made me so irritated.

4 stars!
This was funny and sexy, with great chemistry and a really believable storyline.
5 stars!
Reread. Archer Forever.
Audiobook. Can't say I'd suggest going that route if you want to read it, though!

5 stars!
This was such a pleasant surprise! Very sexy but also adorably sweet, funny, and almost no angst. Another really well done and believable contemporary, and a great addition to the New Adult genre. I'll be keeping an eye on this author's future works!

Currently Reading

Audiobook. Not too far in, but I'm cautiously optimistic so far.

Eh, may wind up DNF-ing this one, or at least putting it down for awhile.  There's nothing really wrong with it, but I'm not feeling it.

It finally feels like winter here, at least for the time being! Yesterday and today hovered around 40 degrees (30 with windchill), with the nights hovering around 28 (upper teens with windchill!). It's brutally cold for Florida, but it's not bad with the right clothes on, and a warm fire and good book to come inside to. ;)
It'll be back into the mid-70s in a few days; Florida winters are so hard to adjust to, since you'll be sweating in shorts and a tank one day and shivering in fleece leggings and a coat the next.

Aside from that, a busier week with work, but nothing too bad. I've had a bit of a sore throat/achy thing going on the past few days, so hopefully that clears up soon. That's pretty much it!

3.5 stars!
Quick, funny, sexy, with a  decent narrator.
Partial audiobook
4.5 stars!
This was such a well done new adult!
3.75-4 stars??
I dunno, I'm really conflicted here. It kept me absolutely riveted and I read it in a day. On the other hand, it didn't quite live up to Marriage Games and the ending was a bit rushed...or perhaps the middle was drawn out. Very torn.

Hello, 2017! I hope you all had a good Christmas/whatever holiday you celebrate. Mine was good for the most part, even though extended family drama always taints things a bit. Overall though, it was pleasant!

Work is picking up again, so it's been a bit busier than normal, but that's okay. Glad to have work!

I'm so freaking excited for all the books releases this month! Publishers and authors seem to hold out until January to blast their new releases, and the wait is finally over. Yay!

The audio was decent, but I was a bit let down with this one. There wasn't anything wrong with it exactly, but it wasn't as amazing as everyone made it out to be, at least in my eyes.
3 stars!
I didn't realize it was a novella so initially I felt it was really rushed. Oops, my bad! Unfortunately, that feeling stuck with me, haha.
2 stars!
This sucked. The premise was so good, though!
4 stars!
This was a little different than Jay Crownover's usual, but it was really good! Action packed, sexy as hell, addictive and the side characters were amazing. This was one of the three brothers' books, and I can't wait for Lane and Sutton's books.

Well, I picked it up today. Don't know if I'll stick with it, since I'm already annoyed!

Christmas is in a week. A freaking week! The holidays have flown by far too fast, and I'm not ready for it to be over yet. At least it's been fun!

Not much happening this week, aside from the yearly Secret Santa exchnage with the family, which was fun and adorable as usual.

The weather is beyond frustrating. One day it'll be in the low 60s with low humidity during the day and 32 at night, and the next it's pushing 80 with high humidity. It's impossible to acclimate to!

I've decided to join in on some of Kimberly Faye Read's top 16 of 2016! I haven't decided which topics to do yet, but it sounds so fun!

This was atrocious. Truly atrocious. I don't think I'm a motorcycle club kinda reader. Don't take my word for it though, since there's a 4.64 rating on Goodreads!
5 stars!
Such a pleasant surprise here! I usually don't like historical, anything with the faintest bit of fantasy, or 3rd person, but despite that, I loved this one.
3 stars!
Sexy, quick read. Bit of a rushed ending, though.

A mostly laid-back and very chilly week! Several days it stayed in the upper 50s/low 60s, with nights getting down to around 35-32 (Floridian here, so that's freezing cold). Lovely weather that everyone is enjoying. I've found myself sleeping with the window open at night, burrowed under heavy blankets and stealing the dogs' warmth. ;) It's quite cozy!

Finally got a tree this weekend, and I have to say that it's quite a hideous thing. Since you won't find a Christmas tree farm here (or at least not one that produces the classic fraser fur), the choices are limited to Lower and Home Depot. The Home Depot here had all their trees bound up, and it wasn't clear that this tree is pretty much just the middle of the tree. It's more of a Christmas bush than a Christmas tree, in all honesty.

It's literally the middle of a tree.

"If you ask me, we should've gotten one of these. They're actually suppose to be small."
My dog is judgmental.

Oh, well! It works, and it's kind of growing on me, haha.

I've relaxed a bit with my fitness routine, in a good way. Rather than pushing myself for a minimum of 10,000 every day, no matter how I feel, I'm focusing more on doing what feels good and targeting what needs it that day. Hitting that number or higher is still ideal, but if I'm feeling too bad, I'm exhausted or sore (I twisted my knee last week and it still twinges), I relax on that and do something that doesn't aggravate me...or sometimes I just rest. It's nice to find a good balance!
