Top Ten Tuesday: What Makes Me One-Click

Hey guys!

It's Top Ten Tuesday by The Broke and The Bookish! Today's topic is ten things that will make you instantly want to read a book (trope, covers, recommendations, ect). I'm doing a mix of things, all of my go-to guilty pleasures, so let's jump right in!

10. Friends to lovers

My #1 trope.

9. Pretty covers

Because I'm shallow. So shallow.

8. Hot guys with dogs

Because again, shallow. And a dog lover. And a hot guy lover. ;)

7. Douchebags that really just have no filter and are actually sweet

I find them absolutely hilarious and endearing.

6. Any kind of travel

It's my favorite!

5. Hockey players

I've never played or watched hockey, and I have no idea how it's played. That said, it's my favorite type of sports romance!

4. Irritation Sparking Romance

I love when one or both people is annoyed by the other but they still have an attraction. That tension!

3. Road trips

I personally hate driving, but I love reading road trip stories!

2. Vampires

Blame it on Twilight really sparking my reading obsession.

1. Mountain Men

Rugged, outdoorsy men are so enjoyable. ;)

Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Tropes

Hey, everyone!

It's Top Ten Tuesday by The Broke and The Bookish! This week's a freebie, and I'm going with my recent favorites when it comes to tropes. Let's jump right in!

10. The sibling/aunt/uncle raising a kid

I've read a few of these types of books, where a relative is raising the kids of the dead or absent parent. It sounds morbid (and it kinda is, actually...), but the few I've read have been good!

9. The happy, charming hero

Don't get me wrong, I can get behind (or in front of ;)) a broody hero. However, I'm getting a bit sick of it. Happy, smiling and charming heroes are my current weakness!

8. Animal lovers

I'm a huge animal lover, as my house full of pets can account for. I love to see that from characters!

7. Surprise pregnancies

I don't even know why. At all.

6. Perfect banter

Great banter takes a book to a whole new level!

5. Royalty

Again, I don't even know why. I freaking love it, though!

4. Road trips

Because road trips!

3. Couple does not break up halfway through

Seriously, it's so refreshing to get this trope.

2. Slow burns

I've never really been a fan of slow burns, but lately I'm appreciating them more and more!

1. Friends to lovers

Hands down, my all time favorite!

Romance Trends I'm So Over

Hey, everyone!

Do you ever read a book and feel like you've read the same thing ten times before? I've had several of those reads lately, and it sparked some serious annoyance with popular book tropes. ;) Let's jump right in!

We can't be together...because of your brother

You know, the brother's best friend romances. The vast majority of these grind on my nerves for two reasons:

1. Who wants to be with someone that can't come out and say you're together? You're either a pussy or you're ashamed, and neither sits well with me.

2. I have three brothers. If any of them pulled the type of behavior the book brothers always pull, heads would roll.

I love them, but...;)

We can't be together...because of my deep, dark secret you can't handle knowing.

Secretiveness isn't sexy. It's not intriguing. It doesn't make me want to rip my clothes off. It just annoys me.
Also, don't decide what I can and can't handle.

Our love is strong....until 70% in.

I would love to read a contemporary romance where the couple doesn't break up three quarters of the way into the story. It's every. single. contemporary, and is usually over something seriously stupid that could've been avoided with a single conversation.

I'm not pretty, but all these men are drooling over me.

"I'm so average, so plain, nothing special at all. Just ignore all these ab-tastic men vying for my affection."
Confidence, girl. My god.

Baby mama drama

This may be my least favorite, and for reasons too numerous to list.
