The Sunday Post/It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

Hey, ladies!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a fun weekly meme hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date where we share what we've read and reviewed over the past week and what we plan to read next.

This was a very low-key work week! I did so much binge watching of Supernatural, it was ridiculous. That show is crack-like with how addictive it is. Between that, The 100, and How I Met Your Mother, I'm feeling very dorky lately.

It's officially too hot to be outside, unless it's early morning or night. The humidity is so high it feels like drowning if you take a deep breath, and the blast of heat that comes from opening any outside door is insane. This is the time of year I really, really hate Florida.
The one upside to that it's now officially blueberry season here! Fresh, local berries are my favorite, and I've been eating blueberry-everything the past couple days. So delicious.

A rather busy week here, with hotter temps during the day. Seriously, I can't wait to be in the 70s. It also needs to rain something fierce. You can't step outside without being covered in dust, and don't even get me started on how filthy the dogs get just by playing. At least it's been cooler at night!

I really don't think fantasy books are for me. I've been trying to finish a well narrated audiobook fantasy all week, and can't seem to push through the last three hours.

Read This Week

4 stars!
An addictive post-apocolyptic romance with an all male POV.  One star off for the open ending!
2.5 - 3 stars!
So obnoxiously sweet my teeth started to rot.
3 stars!
Quick read lacking any sort of substance, with a predictable plot. Decent hero and annoying heroine.

Loving this audiobook!

45% into it and it's enjoyable, especially for 3rd person. It's kinda dragging a bit, though. I really don't see how there's so much more left in this story.

This is what I'm really struggling to finish. It's so hard.

The faintest breath of fall happened this week, with a day of only 60-70% humidity! Granted, it was still in the 90s, but breeze and low humidity, so I'll take it. I'm so ready for fall!

A very, very busy work week. I'm so tired!

Holy crap, I'm nearly finished with my Goodreads challenge! Only 20 more to go, and I read 8 books this week. 8!

There's a new addition to the family as of nearly 3 weeks ago! This is Layla, my 11 week old English Mastiff puppy. She's currently 25lbs, expecting to top out at around 140-150lbs. She's joined my miniature dachshund, my mini Aussie, and the catdog kitten.

4 stars!
A really enjoyable start to a new series.
Audiobook

2 stars!
This was just really bad.

3-ish stars!
Very intriguing and creepy as hell, but the characters were rather flat and read very young, despite it being a new adult novel. Curious about the upcoming sequel.

3 stars!
Very sweet love story.
4 stars!
I really, really enjoy this series. I can't wait until the third! I mean, there had better be a third, because it can't have ended like it ended.
Audiobook

4 stars!
Awww, this was just so cute and heartwarming and heartfelt and I just have all these feelings.

5 stars!
This was shockingly good! I absolutely loved it, and happily shelved it as my Best of 2016.
Audiobook

2 stars!
So much potential, so poorly executed.

I have about 2 hours left of this audiobook, and I don't think I'm reading the same book that everyone else rated 4 and 5 stars. The guy is the world's biggest asshole!

This is hilarious and addictive!

I've said this every week, but it is so freaking hot. It reminds me of opening the door on a hot oven every time I step outside; you're just blasted by this thick wave of heat. On top of that, it's humid and so oppressive, not to mention the bugs... My legs are so covered in welts, scabs and blistered bites it's becoming a serious challenge to shave. :p

I had my first (or maybe second, can't remember for certain) did not finish of the year this week. I tried, I really did. Made it 53%+ of the way in, and just couldn't keep trudging on. The writing was awful, the plot weak and choppy, and the characters...well, I wasn't rooting for them against the bad guys. At all. The overall idea was intriguing, but the book fell flat. Then we hit a love triangle (which, according to the next two books in the series, winds up being a love square), and it was all over.
I did wind up adding it to my "read" shelf on Goodreads, after much internal struggling, haha. I wasted near 200 pages, so I deserve it. ;)

Don't read it.

I can't believe we're in June already!

Not the best step week since I wasn't feeling too well for a few days, but overall it was okay. I'm mostly walking at night now to try and fend off the heat.

5 stars!
I absolutely adored this book, and I'm still thinking about it days after finishing. It definitely earned a spot on my "best of 2016" list.

4 stars!
Yes! Took me a month to finish, but I did it. A little longer than it should have been (and I really dislike Lissa), but overall a satisfying end to a fun series.

3 stars...?

I didn't really care for this one. I think that's just me though, because nearly all the Goodreads reviews give it 4-5 stars.
Audiobook

1 star.
DNF, but since I went past the halfway mark, I'm jotting it down here.

A Little Of This and That

Hey, guys!

Today's post will just be a quick little chatty thing; I'm in the middle of a few great books, so I don't have any reviews for you until probably...Wednesday. Maybe. I hope.

Last week was absolutely killer with work, so it was the best relief to spend yesterday afternoon at the beach. The water was gorgeous, albeit a bit rough (well...rough is a relative term. The gulf being rough is calm for most everywhere else), and the perfect antidote to the nearly 110 degree heat index.

I have a newborn photo shoot to do today, and I can't wait to test out my new backdrops and swanky lightning!
My order from Book Outlet and possibly Thriftbooks should be here today, too, so hopefully I'll have a little haul to show you tomorrow.

I love bargain hunting, and yesterday I might've just had the best deal of my life. 15lbs of top notch grain free dog food (Acana Grasslands if you're curious) that normally goes for around $48, and I paid....drumroll please....$0.98! There was an amazing deal at Coupaw.com, and I was ecstatic to get it. My dogs are small, and that was easily 4-5 weeks worth of food for everyone.

One of the little trouble makers that will be enjoying that deal!

I occasionally go through phases where I watch various tv shows, and that's happening right now. I've gotten a bit sucked into The Vampire Diaries (ha...you see what I did there?). I know, I know: total guilty pleasure. I haven't been watching religiously or anything, and I haven't seen all of them. Just enough to get a good idea. I hate love triangles, and I can't stand Damon. Team Stelena all the way. I don't know, there's just something about the actor that plays Damon that I cannot stand. He makes me angry every time he's in a scene.

I think I need another bookshelf again. There's four floating shelves that wrap around three walls in my bedroom, plus a normal bookcase, and they're bursting at the seams. I need to badger my dad into making me more!
