June Wrap-Up

Good morning, everyone!

Holy hell, how is it already July? That doesn't seem possible! I swear, each month this year is flying by faster than the one before it. Work has been keeping me very, very busy (often been at it 7 days a week in June), but I still managed to read 21 books in June. Many of them were short smut stories that were free (damn you, BookBub!), so....yeah, June was a very porn-ish month for me, haha. Dirty, dirty book porn. I officially christen June of 2015 to be my month of threesomes and BDSM.

This month was definitely quantity over quality. Only 4 books were really "damn, that was such a good book!" reads. I guess I'm in a bit of a reading slump right now! I haven't read a five star read in quite a while. Have any suggestions for me?

New adult contemporary romance

3 stars. I think this was the lowest rating I've ever given a Halle book. I love her, but this book just didn't do it for me. It's a spin off of one of the characters in Love, In English and Love, In Spanish, and the character did better as a secondary.

Erotic dark romance. 3.5 stars.

I was truly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. It was fascinating. It's quite graphic, so proceed with caution if you're sensitive to abuse/rape.

2 stars. It was *this close* to being a DNF for me.

Paranormal erotica. 1 star. Short, short story.
The award for the worst book I read all year goes to this tiny train wreck right here. And I read 50 Shades, so that's saying something. It was free is my only excuse....

  1. Yay for a smutty month! Love those:) It's too bad only 4 out of the 21 books you read were winners though, hopefully July gives you a better ratio! It's been a while since I've had a 5 star rating too, I feel like a lot of us are in slumps at the moment:)

  2. HA Ha! Yes it was a very smutty month. I see a lot of Karina Halle up there. I have only read one book by her, and I have her Sins and Needles book. I really need to get it read. I also have Amour Amour.....

  6. I hope you can slow things down at work and enjoy some free time in july ! Several of the novellas above are on my to-read list. There were 2 five-stars romances I read this year that really stood out : The deal by Elle Kennedy and Rise by Karina Bliss. Rise wasn't very smutty, but very sexy and a hell of a book that really surprised me and broke a few stereotypes !
