Hey, everyone!
I can't believe I'm even writing this, but....I need to suck it up and buy a Kindle. Ugh, that hurt to type, but it's a sad reality.
I'm a diehard "real book" lover. I love the smell of them, the texture of the pages, cracking the spine, the sheer beauty that is all my books weighing down my bookcases, everything about them I adore.
However....most ARCs are sent in eBook form, there's so many free eBooks, and then you have the novellas that aren't available as a physical copy. It's also quite nice to have a large supply of books with you in your purse that doesn't weigh you down the way real books do. I do have the Kindle app on my iPhone, but it gives me a splitting headache to read more than 80 or so pages at a time on the thing. The screen size also bugs me, even though it's an iPhone 6 (not 6+) and has a fair sized screen. Thus, the need for a Kindle, much as I may hate it.
My only issue is I've never used a Kindle, and I'm not sure which to get. I'm hoping you guys can help! Does a Kindle screen strain your eyes like a phone? I don't need to be able to use it for anything besides reading, if that matters. I'm completely clueless. Tell me what you have, what you like, and why!

So I have a kindle fire an older one and it's exactly like looking at a bigger phone. I would recommend looking into one of the kindle paper white ones if your eyes hurt.
ReplyDeleteI have a Kindle Paperwhite and I love it. It's like reading on a real book. No glare like a phone or the Fire. Plus there is a backlight that can be adjusted when you want to read in the dark. It's lightweight and just perfect! I never leave home without it in my purse. It's definitely a great investment and reasonably priced. Highly recommend it! You won't be disappointed!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love my kindle paperwhite. It's considerably cheap, and comes with a whole bunch of cool features.
ReplyDeleteI would marry my Kindle Paperwhite if I could -- lol. I love it so much, and there is absolutely no glare. I have vision problems, and I'm able to read books in one sitting on my Paperwhite with no issues.
