The Sunday Post/It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

Hey, ladies!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a fun weekly meme hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date where we share what we've read and reviewed over the past week and what we plan to read next.

I'm currently on vacation! Well, working vacation/sort of staycation type of thing. We're staying about 45 minutes from home, right in the heart of work and at a client's beach house. It's pretty swanky, all things considered! Although I do wish that it was, like, October. So hot. SO many damn people.

I'm exhausted/crampy/headache-y, but being this is certainly a nice place to feel like shit. :D I'm hoping to get a good bit of reading done, but we'll see!

Missed two days of yoga, but not bad considering all I want to do is sprawl on the couch and vegetate.

This week's been pretty good, certain things getting hammered out that I'm excited about. I'm not going to jinx anything by announcing things prematurely, but I can't wait to share with you all. :D

One thing I will say though is that I am really not one to really enjoy having company over, haha. It is exhausting, and makes me jittery. #IntrovertsUnite #Separately

I'm in a bit of a reading slump, I think. It's not that I don't like anything I'm picking up, it's just that my attention wanders like crazy. Thus, a slow reading week. Hope that leaves soon!

An okay fitness week, though aforementioned company did cut into my walking and yoga time. That's okay though, because the humidity has been absolutely brutal. It's like trying to breathe underwater!

2.5-3 stars!

I wasn't very happy with this. I found the heroine obnoxious, and the hero dull. Much preferred Nuts! The narrator was good, though.

Around 40% into this, and it's pretty slow going. Not as romance or action packed as the other three!

Moderately busy work week, with some exciting things on the horizon! Don't want to jinx things, but I can't wait. :D

It's so hot here. So miserably, miserably hot and humid. It's brutal, and constantly in the high 90s, with the heat index hovering around 105 degrees. Brutal, I tell you.

I kinda don't know what to do with myself on Saturday nights now that Outlander's done with its second season. The #Droughtlander is real, I tell you.

Read This Week

The Outlander books take me a week to read, apparently. :p

4.5 stars!

A little scattered compared to the other two, but it was still highly emotional, addictive, and a little infuriating. Several aspects had me on the verge of tossing my Kindle, yet I still loved it. That seems to be the theme with Outlander and me, haha.
There are so many scenes I'm really hoping make it into the third season of the show, because holy bat balls, I can't imagine how epic that'd be on screen, especially with Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan to pull it off. Those two have some serious talent, and that chemistry!

The Sunday Post/It's Monday, What Are You Reading

Hey, ladies!

Not too much going on this week, other than I've reaffirmed my desire to become a pseudo-hermit.

On the bright side, it was a lovely sunset at the bay the other day, despite the hermit-wishing circumstances beforehand. :p 4th of July was fun and low-key, too!

No adventure is complete without Nola.

I have to say that the season two finale of Outlander sucked. Plain and simple, it was trash. After everything in the season, the amazing acting, costumes/makeup, the emotion, the chemistry of nearly all the cast members...you end like that? It was scattered, choppy, and jarring, not to mention the atrocity of the acting of Brianna's character. She reminded me of the Bella Swan actor, and that's not praise. I really, really hope the producers can turn it around in season 3!

A much better fitness week, even if it is hotter than Satan's scrotum!

Read This Week

Two books, but over 1,000 pages!

4.5 stars!
Another addictive addition to a favorite series. Funny as hell, sexy, fast paced, and with a few surprised all-the-feels moments. A little scattered feeling, but that didn't diminish my enjoyment. As always, the narrator was FANTASTIC! I can't wait for the 11th book!
Audiobook

4 stars!

While I think the second season of the show pulled it off better, I really enjoyed this. Addictive, emotional, sexy, and so interesting. A little slow in places, and book Claire annoys me, but a great read overall.

Around 20% in, and I'm strangely and irrationally furious with it. It's pretty slow, too. Hoping it picks up!

The Sunday Post/It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

Hey, ladies! Happy 4th of July weekendish!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a fun weekly meme hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date where we share what we've read and reviewed over the past week and what we plan to read next.

I...did almost nothing this week. Well, scratch that. I did nothing the first part of the week but sleep. I had a conference most of last week, out in Arizona, and people drain me. I needed to recuperate!
We went blueberry picking on Wednesday morning, and while it was brutally hot (even at 8am), there were tons of blueberries that taste amazing. I've been eating blueberries like crazy: blueberry smoothies, salad with blueberries, blueberries with yogurt, straight blueberries...

My aunt visited and stayed the night Thursday and Friday (we're only 4 years apart, so more like sisters than aunt/niece), and we saw Finding Dory that Thursday and did some thrift store shopping on Friday. Dory was awful, and thrift shopping was fruitful. Worked a long day yesterday, but have today off!

My steps and fitness this week sucked. Spent Sunday walking around the airport or flying. I usually walk every night, but found myself asleep by 9 o'clock most nights, usually without wanting to (just keeling over wherever I was), then waking up just as tired as before. Missed most of my step goals, and only did yoga two or three times. Going to do better next week, and oh well - I ate really healthy!!

Read This Week

3 stars!
2 stars for the story, 4 for the smut.

Yeah...just a short (200ish pages) smutty read. My brain was not capable of anything with a plot, and this was just porn. Filthy, filthy porn that I feel like I've already read. I either forgot to mark it on Goodreads, or I read so many dirty novels that the depravity runs together.

Not too far in, but the audiobook is fantastic, as always! Lorelei King does a fabulous job as Charley.

I refuse to accept that the season 2 finale of Outlander is this coming Saturday, so I dove into Dragonfly in Amber. I'm always surprised that I like these books! I'm finding France a tad dull, so I'm skimming that section. Otherwise, enjoying! Jamie is...sigh. I want.

What Will I Read Next

This season finale is going to destroy me, so as soon as I finish that I'm grabbing this.

The theme of the week is man candy. ;)

A fairly quiet week around here, with sunny and coolish (68-70 on average) weather and not too much work. I'm loving all the sun, but I'm not looking forward to the summer heat that's lurking around the corner!

Last week I talked of how I started the first episode of Outlander, if you'll remember. Despite a very rocky start, things really started to pick up around episode 5, and by the 7th, I was throughly hooked. I finished the first season and am dying for more!
The first installment of season one was good, if a bit slow (there's one episode where they're sitting at a table talking for 45 minutes of an hour long episode. Seriously, 45 minutes of nothing but that).

The second half of the season though...holy hell, it was epic!! So much action, captivating history (I was terrible with history in school and it's never been something that draws me - quite the opposite, usually), plot twists abound, and a truly stunning romance. Maybe I'll do a sort of series review about it soon....
Either way, suffice it to say that Scottish accents are incredibly sexy (even if I had to turn on the subtitles), and now I understand the attraction of kilts.

Still holding steady with daily walking, jogging when my ankle can take it, and daily yoga!

Read This Week

I read almost nothing this week, since Outlander was occupying me into the early hours of the morning without fail!

4.5 stars!
I'm really enjoying this take on vampires. Audiobook

3 stars!
A somewhat funny novel that did not need to be 500 pages. 200-260 would've been fine.
Almsot 5 stars!

My favorite in the series so far. This installment was much more action packed than its predecessors, and I was so glad for that. Bitch of a cliffhanger, though! Audiobook.

Currently Reading

I'm on such a paranormal kick lately.
I love the audiobooks for this series! Apparently the book after this one has a different narrator. Not sure how I feel about that. It worked for the Fever series, but...

It says something huge about this book and the show that a self-proffessed hater of time travel and historical romance is completely in love with it.

What Will I Read Next

Well, duh.
