What Are You Currently Reading?

About half way through this one, and enjoying the light read!

-----------

From New York Times bestselling author Alice Clayton, the first in a brand-new romance series telling the humorously sexy tale of Roxie, a private chef who gets a taste of love—but is it to stay, or to go?

After losing almost all of her clients in one fell swoop following an accident involving whipped cream, private chef to Hollywood’s elite Roxie Callahan gets a call from her flighty mother, saying she’s needed home in upstate New York to run the family diner. Once she's back in the Hudson Valley, local organic farmer Leo delivers Roxie a lovely bunch of walnuts, and soon sparks—and clothing—begin to fly. Leo believes that everything worth doing is worth doing slowly…and how! But will Roxie stay upstate, or will the lure of West Coast redemption tempt her back to Tinseltown?

Around 4 hours left of this audiobook. I like it better than Dirty Rowdy Thing, but it's not anywhere near close to Sweet Filthy Boy. I'm enjoying it, but I don't feel that much chemistry between Lola and Oliver!

---------

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
But what didn't happen in Vegas seems to follow them everywhere.

Lola and Oliver like to congratulate themselves on having the good sense to not consummate their drunken Las Vegas wedding. If they’d doubled-down on that mistake, their Just Friends situation might not be half as great as it is now.

... Or so goes the official line.

In reality, Lola’s wanted Oliver since day one—and over time has only fallen harder for his sexy Aussie accent and easygoing ability to take her as she comes. More at home in her studio than in baring herself to people, Lola’s instinctive comfort around Oliver nearly seems too good to be true. So why ruin a good thing?

Even as geek girls fawn over him, Oliver can’t get his mind off what he didn’t do with Lola when he had the chance. He knows what he wants with her now ... and it’s far outside the friend zone. When Lola’s graphic novel starts getting national acclaim—and is then fast-tracked for a major motion picture—Oliver steps up to be there for her whenever she needs him. After all, she’s not the kind of girl who likes all that attention, but maybe she’s the kind who’ll eventually like him.

Sometimes seeing what’s right in front of us takes a great leap of faith. And sometimes a dark wild night in Vegas isn’t just the end of a day, but the beginning of a bright new life...

This may wind up being a Did Not Finish (30% in). Wait, let me say that in a way these characters would understand:
"Win' up bein' a' ain't no finish, bitch."

Seriously. It would not kill this guy to speak in a complete, intelligent sentence. You are 40something. It's not sexy. It's not cute. It's not badass. You sound like a goddamn idiot.

I think I may be a compete and utter bitch, because I don't feel a single ounce of sympathy for either of these characters. In fact, I'll more than happily smack the next one that goes off on a whiny, ridiculous tangent about how they're empty, their life is gone, and everything is an act.
Get over yourselves.
How is this over 600 pages?!

What Will You Read Next?

Sarai was only fourteen when her mother uprooted her to live in Mexico with a notorious drug lord. Over time she forgot what it was like to live a normal life, but she never let go of her hope to escape the compound where she has been held for the past nine years.

Victor is a cold-blooded assassin who, like Sarai, has known only death and violence since he was a young boy. When Victor arrives at the compound to collect details and payment for a hit, Sarai sees him as her only opportunity for escape. But things don’t go as planned and instead of finding transport back to Tucson, she finds herself free from one dangerous man and caught in the clutches of another.

While on the run, Victor strays from his primal nature as he succumbs to his conscience and resolves to help Sarai. As they grow closer, he finds himself willing to risk everything to keep her alive; even his relationship with his devoted brother and liaison, Niklas, who now like everyone else wants Sarai dead.

As Victor and Sarai slowly build a trust, the differences between them seem to lessen, and an unlikely attraction intensifies. But Victor’s brutal skills and experience may not be enough in the end to save her, as the power she unknowingly holds over him may ultimately be what gets her killed.

This is their story…

Maybe. Or it could be the next Mercy Thompson book, or the last book in the Nocte trilogy. Who knows?

*dies* I've been waiting to read a few reviews of Walk Through FIre Amanda as Kristen Ashley is hugely hit or miss for me. Sometimes her books are like crack and I can't put them down, but other times they're just too over the top. This sounds like it might be the latter. Boo.

  7. Ugh. Kirsten Ashley's books makes me want to stab my eyes with a rusted knife. I learned my lessons quickly (like, after reading 10 of her books. Lol. What can I say? I was an addict). Anyway, I'll never subject myself to that kind of self-inflicted torture ever again.
